My Thyroid Healing Story
I’m Carine, a Health & Wellness Coach. My journey through Graves’ and Hashimoto’s became the foundation of the work I share with women today.
It’s been said, “ Genetics loads the gun, but environment pulls the trigger.”
My deep dive into holistic health began with that diagnosis and the realization that lifestyle, stress, environment, and our personal stories can profoundly influence our health.
At 49, I was diagnosed with Graves’ and Hashimoto's. My world was suddenly turned upside down. Extreme and terrifying symptoms like tachycardia, tremors, drastic weight loss, anxiety, fatigue, and insomnia forced me to stop, listen deeply, and embark on a different path.
It wasn't until my diagnosis that I realized many of the symptoms I'd been experiencing for years were connected to my thyroid—and had been largely overlooked.
Conventional treatment for my condition meant radioactive iodine, but as I wasn't ready to give up my Thyroid as the first course of action, I chose an integrative approach instead.
With my doctor’s support and a block-and-replace medication treatment, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about thyroid autoimmunity and began a transformative journey to remission.
I navigated labs, doctors, and lifestyle changes, moved through the flares, the fears, and the hope. I worked tirelessly to identify my triggers, addressing gut health, nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, and food sensitivities, and most importantly, managing the stress that contributed to the diagnosis.
Once I understood how to support my health, my numbers normalized, and my antibodies gradually decreased until I felt myself again. My sleep, my food reactions, and my energy levels significantly improved.
I regained control of my health through consistent lifestyle and habit changes. It wasn't easy; it took trials and adjustments, but today, I'm proud to say I saved my Thyroid and am medication-free.
But my healing journey didn't stop with remission. I became curious about the deeper psychological patterns that shape our health—the stories we carry, the roles we play, and the traits that can quietly contribute to chronic illness over time.
Through deeper inner work, I began releasing stories I’d been carrying and, with them, a layer of stress my system had been holding for far too long.
It helped me return to a more aligned version of myself and enter menopause and the empty-nest years with renewed energy, vitality, and a newfound sense of purpose.
Today, I help women reconnect with themselves, support their health, and create lasting change from the inside out.
